Commemorating the Designation as an Important Cultural Property Private Charter Stay [April 20, 2025 - October 31, 2025, Monday - Thursday only].

In commemoration of the 115th anniversary of its completion and the designation of Chorakukan (the former Murai family villa) as a National Important Cultural Property, we will offer a specially priced private stay plan.

The guest house, Chorakukan, was built in the Meiji era (1868-1912) and offers hospitality through its architecture and cuisine,
Guided tour of Chorakukan by staff, including the third floor, which is normally closed to the public,
The tour also includes an ochaya experience with geiko and maiko, a private tour of Chion-in, the head temple of the Jodo sect, and more.
We propose an exquisite stay where you can enjoy Japanese traditions.
All six rooms are available for private use, so you can enjoy your stay in your own special space.

Private private charter stay

  • Fee: 2-12 persons ¥1,150,000 (excluding service charge 10%, consumption tax and accommodation tax)
  • Period: April 20, 2025 (Sun.) - October 31, 2025 (Fri.) Monday - Thursday check-in only (excluding holidays and days before holidays)
  • Number of couples: Limited to 3 couples during the period
  • The above rates will be applied regardless of the number of rooms or number of persons.
    A separate accommodation tax based on the number of guests will be charged.

Plan Details

  • Hotel Chorakukan private use during your stay (new building, 3rd-4th floor, bar)
  • Meals (2 meals)
     1) Private dinner at the main dining room "Le Chêne
      One glass of champagne toast (Jacques Seros) per person
      French dinner served while listening to a live piano performance
     Breakfast (1 private room in the main building)
  • Special Cultural Experiences
     (1) Maiko and geiko teahouse experience in the Onari no Ma (usually closed to the public)
      Enjoy viewing dances, playing teahouse games, and free conversation in a Japanese-style space on the top floor of the Western-style building.
     (2) Private tour of Chion-in Temple, the head temple of the Jodo sect (with special opening to the public and tea ceremony)
      The temple is located in Kyoto, and is famous for its large and small banquet halls, sutra storehouse, and bell tower, which are not usually open to the public,
      The monks will also take you to the inner sanctum of the National Treasure, Mikageido, which is normally inaccessible to the public.
