Art Triennale 2024] Special Exhibition - Takekagedo: Kyoto Metal Crafts by Eishin and Hammering Hammer [FINISHED] (Japanese only)
To express our gratitude for your patronage, we will hold the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN on September 29, 2024.
The theme of the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN 2024 is "Weaving Thoughts.
We offer a special experience at the intersection of food and artistic culture.
At the Chorakuan Tea Room on the 3rd floor, there will be an exhibition and sale of elegant metal crafts that have been handed down in Kyoto for more than 200 years.
Kazari Sho Takekagedo Eishin and Nakamura Yakimai have responded flexibly to the changing demands of the times, and are currently involved in a wide variety of productions, mainly in silver, including tea ceremony utensils, incense instruments, and Buddhist altar fittings.
Takekagedo Eishin will be present at the exhibition, and their beautiful craftwork will be available for purchase on the spot.

Artist Profile
- Eishin Chikueido
Born in Kyoto in 1958. Studied under his father, Chikkedo Eishin (Nakamura Seiichiro) III.
In 1990, he established Kyokazari Chikkeido Co., Ltd. and was given the title of "Chikkeido Keiei" by the order of Eishin III.
In 2009, he assumed the name Chikkedo Eishin IV.
Even in this age of mechanization in the metal industry, he dares to stick to manual work, producing tea ceremony utensils and exhibiting his works utilizing his high artistic skills.
He has been teaching students about the fascinating work of kyozari and continues to train his successors.

Born in Kyoto in 1956. Studied under his father, Chikkedo Eishin (Nakamura Seiichiro) III.
In 1990, he founded the craft studio Hammai, and in 2015, he established Tofu Art Crafts Co.
He has been actively involved in the production of reproductions of national treasures from the Tokyo National Museum collection and has won awards at the Japan Metal Crafts Exhibition of Traditional Crafts.
He also conducts workshops on handmade rings to familiarize people with the joys of metal crafts and handcraft.
