Built in the Meiji era (1868-1912) by Kibei Murai, a rare businessman, Chourakukan, a guesthouse in Kyoto, served as a bridge between Japanese and Western cultures as it welcomed a variety of guests from Japan and abroad.
It is also our mission to take care of this Chourakukan.
This year marks the fourth year of the "Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN" held in the autumn of art and culture.
The theme of this year's Art Festival is "Kyoto's Japanese and Western culture.
We will be presenting a variety of events that shed light on the architecture, foodstuffs, and art that live and breathe in Kyoto.
Enjoy a moment of art unique to Chourakukan, where the thoughts of chefs, artists, and future cultural leaders intersect.
