Art Festival 2025] Piano and Saxophone Duo Concert [Sunday, September 28, 2025

To express our gratitude for your patronage, we will hold the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN on September 28, 2025.
This year's theme is "Japanese and Western in Kyoto.
We will be presenting a variety of events that shed light on the architecture, foodstuffs, and art that live and breathe in Kyoto.

A duo concert will be held in the banquet room of Chorakukan, featuring Chorakukan pianist Ayana Shimomura, a graduate of Kyoto City University of Arts, and saxophonist Ayano Fukuda, a graduate of the same university.
Enjoy the rich sound of the Steinway and the gorgeous tones of the saxophone for a moment in autumn.

  • The exhibition will be open to all visitors with an admission ticket or a ticket for the Festival in CHOURAKUKAN 2025 event.
    Preschool children are not allowed to accompany guests.
    This concert requires advance reservations, but some seats will be available on the day of the concert.

Performer Profile

       Ayana Shimomura, Piano
    Graduated from Kyoto Horikawa Music High School and Kyoto City University of Arts. While attending high school, performed in piano concerts by selected students and graduation concerts. She won the silver prize at the Kyoto Piano Competition 2012 and was selected for the 33rd National Competition of the Education Alliance Piano Audition in D Division. She has studied under Junko Ishida, Hiromi Koide, Irina Meduyeva, and Hibiki Tamura. She is currently active not only as a solo piano performer, but also as a restaurant piano player, performing at art appreciation events at elementary and junior high schools, and as an accompanist for various instruments, as well as teaching younger students.
       Saxophone Ayano Fukuda
    Born in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture and currently resides in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. After graduating from Tsu High School in Mie Prefecture, he went on to Kyoto City University of Arts, where he received his B.F.A. in Music and M.F.A. in Music and Ph. D. in music. He received the Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award in 2021. Studied saxophone under Yukie Oie, Yoshiyuki Hattori, Sadahito Kunisue, Nobuya Sugawa, and Makoto Hondo. He has performed in many concerts, including the 88th Yomiuri Newcomers Concert and the 34th Yamaha Wind Instrument Newcomers Concert. He is a member of NOK Saxophone Quartet and SAX PARTY! He is a part-time lecturer at Kyoto City University of Arts.
