Art Triennale 2025] Special Lecture by Reiko Chigira, Kyoto City Cultural Properties Protection Division "Chorakukan, an Important Cultural Property" [September 28, 2025 (Sun.)

To express our gratitude for your patronage, we will hold the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN on September 28, 2025.
The theme of the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN 2025 is "Japanese and Western in Kyoto.
We will be presenting a variety of events that shed light on the architecture, foodstuffs, and art that live and breathe in Kyoto.
Enjoy a moment of art unique to Chourakukan, where the thoughts of chefs, artists, and future cultural leaders intersect.

Choruakukan, a modern Western-style building, was newly designated as an important cultural property last year.
Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN 2025 will invite Ms. Reiko Chigira of the Kyoto City Cultural Properties Protection Division, who was involved in the investigation of Chourakukan, to explain its architectural features and value.
After the commentary, we invite you to tour the museum and enjoy the charm of Chouakukan.

  • The exhibition will be open to the public with an admission ticket (from ¥1,000) or a ticket for the Art Festival in CHOURAKUKAN 2025 event.
    Some lectures will accept advance reservations (reservations will begin soon).

Profile

  • <Reiko Chigira, Kyoto City Cultural Properties Preservation Division>
  • Kyoto City Cultural Properties Protection Engineer. She is also a curator. Specialized in Japanese architectural history.
    She was involved in research on early modern machiya carpentry, survey of streets in Kae-cho and Ine-cho, and repair of the Kondo hall of Toshodaiji Temple, among others. Later, he was involved in the excavation of the Ichijodani Asakura clan ruins and research on modern Japanese-style architecture before assuming his current position.
    She is the co-author of "Interior Design and Furniture of Modern Architecture: Interior of Old Niijima Residence, Chourakukan, and Daimaru Villa" and other books. He also supervised the "Investigation Report on the Former Murai's Villa (Chourakukan)".
