01 Furniture
Desk (furniture designated as a cultural property) [Guest room]
The afternoon tea service table in the Guest Room was originally used as a writing desk in the study (now LIBRARY BAR MADEIRA).
The desk is of heavy construction and is covered with green leather on the top panel. The drawers, which would have housed writing implements and papers in the past, now hold cutlery.
The desk is made in the Louis XVI style, a shift from the curvaceous, ornate features of the Rococo style to a more classicist design.
The legs, with their classicist carved plant decoration, are stable and straight.
